Rutter's celebrates opening of first Video Gaming Terminal Room in PA

The Pennsylvania Food Merchants Association was honored to be on hand with elected officials in York County as its member and sponsor, Rutter's, cut the ribbon and unveiled the first Video Gaming Terminal (VGT) room within a Qualified Establishment in Pennsylvania.
The celebration happened Aug. 20 at the Rutter's store at 2125 Susquehanna Trail. Rutter's, which operates 75 convenience stores in Pennsylvania, Maryland, and West Virginia, plans to opened more than 10 VGT rooms in 2019 with more scheduled for 2020. The machines are provided by Marquee by Penn, a subsidiary of Penn National Gaming, Inc., also a PFMA member and sponsor.
“Rutter’s has evolved as a business over the years, from a dairy to convenience stores, from smokes and cokes to fuel and food service,” explains Scott Hartman, Rutter’s President and CEO. “We are constantly listening and learning from our customers, and VGTs are one example of our progressive model.”
State Sen. Mike Regan, Rep. Seth Grove, Rep. Keith Gillespie, and Rep. Stan Saylor were among the elected officials who attended the Rutter's event, showing their support of local business.
Rutter’s also expects to open three more rooms at Qualified Establishments in Pennsylvania, within the coming month, at their Port Royal, Duncansville and West Manchester locations.
“We are excited to partner with Rutter’s and combine our expertise with their established success in the convenience store industry,” said Jeff Morris, Vice President of Public Affairs for Penn National Gaming.
Locations licensed for VGTs will provide customers, 21 years of age and older, with five machines in a designated VGT room. Customers in the area will also be able to enjoy Rutter’s award-winning food and beverages, while playing.

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board has granted a license to the owner of Rutter’s to install video gambling at a store in Juniata County, making it the first chain convenience store to break. (WHTM) – Rutter’s announced that they have opened the first room for Video Gaming Terminals (VGTs), within a qualified establishment in Pennsylvania. Rutter’s Susquehanna Trail location. The mini casino at Shippensburg is expected to open with 475 slot machines and 40 table terminals, where patrons bet at a screen on the spin of a central roulette wheel.
